Learn more about Geraldton's Aboriginal history by following the Yamaji Drive Trail. Fortunately, a lot of the trail is located in Geraldton, so it's great for walking, too. Or head 20 minutes outside the city to Greenough, a historical settlement that's known for its leaning trees along the Brand Highway.

A Site to Remember
Historians call the loss of HMAS Sydney II one of Australia's greatest naval tragedies — the ship disappeared without a trace during World War II. At the center of the calming, contemplative layout overlooking the water is a dome erected on seven pillars representing the states of Australia, and the Wall of Remembrance bears the names of the 645 people who died in the sinking.
Fun on the Foreshore
Start at the Esplanade's 360-degree viewing platform, then walk along the Foreshore to Town Beach, Yamaji Art Centre, Geraldton Water Park or the Museum of Geraldton, where you see local history and maritime exhibitions.
Local Cuisine
The Coral Coast is known for its Western rock lobsters, and you can find plenty of spots serving up the local delicacy in Geraldton. Head to the Esplanade for the full rock lobster experience — it's best enjoyed alongside ocean views. Geraldton also has lots of hip eateries serving internationally inspired modern dishes like tea-smoked duck pancakes or pork belly with coconut, ginger and chili.

Purchase a souvenir from the Aussie Shop, which stocks both Australian and Geraldton souvenirs, including t-shirts, magnets, books and even kangaroo skin hats.
