Walk on Water
The Breakwater was built before the lighthouse to help protect the land from severe weather. Nearly a mile long, today it allows visitors to walk out to the lighthouse snapping photos along the way.
Soak in the Coast
A work in progress, the Rockland Harbor trail is set to stretch five miles along the coast. Although it isn't finished, there are four miles just waiting to be explored along Maine's rocky, tree-lined coast.
Local Cuisine
Art isn't the only way the locals express their creativity. The food scene here is ever-changing and about way more than lobster rolls — although those are amazing, too. Using fresh and local ingredients, chefs of Rockland restaurants create delicious dishes year-round. Look for pan-fried local haddock, pig ear terrine and hand-rolled spaghetti. Primo, the town's farm-to-table restaurant, is the area's best-known spot for dinner.

Head to Main Street to stock up on local pieces to bring home with you. Stop into the galleries to select works local artists. Cruise to Rockland to look for handmade pottery and jewelry from artisan craftspeople, as well as antique furniture.
